Dejanae Events LLC Celebrates 18 Years!!!
WOW! I cannot believe I am writing a blog about celebrating 18 years in this wedding and event arena! It's so very hard to believe that an idea I thought about in 2000 turned into a successful small business. As I sit in reflection, I cannot help but reminisce on how Dejanae Events LLC started:
I was working at a major law firm in downtown Chicago as a Marketing Coordinator and engaged to be married. Planning my wedding was easy, simple actually, since my career had me planning events for the firm's Partners. But on my wedding day, I had no one to implement my dream wedding and needless to say, I was crying my eyes out by the end of the night. My honeymoon was ruined because my resistance was low from all the stress and I had a horrible cold 5 of the 8 days we visited the Hawaiian Islands. I vowed on April 23rd that I would not allow my friends to experience the heartache I felt on their wedding days. Hence, the idea of "Dejanae Events" was born!
That year I planned two of my friends weddings and signed up to take a mail order wedding planning course. Yep...I said it...mail order :) LOL! I registered the business with the IRS and so eloquently called myself - Desireé The Bridal Consultant. The business name didn't stick too long because once my heartbeat was born in late 2001, I changed the business name to "Dejanae Events", named after my complete inspiration.
18 years later, I smile from my business' successes, trials and failures, and I continue to "Hustle Hard" everyday . I'm so thankful for the DE Team's commitment not only to me, but to our clients. The 2017 wedding season was crazy ahhhhhhhmazing and I'm VERY excited about what is on the horizon for Dejanae Events' 18th year in business. WATCH OUT WORLD...
Thanks to all my family, friends and especially the DE clients who believe in us! I truly LOVE each and every one of you!!! Cheers and coffee to Year #18!!!
Until next time...WEDologize!
