Who to Chose? Tips for Selecting Your Wedding Party
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! One of the most exciting aspects of planning your big day is choosing your wedding party. These are the special people who will stand by your side and support you throughout the wedding planning process and on your wedding day. Here are some tips for selecting your wedding party:
Start by considering the size of your wedding. If you're having a small, intimate wedding, you may only want to have a maid of honor and a best man. If you're having a larger wedding, you may want to add attendants such as bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Think about who you're closest to. Your wedding party should be made up of your closest friends and family members. You want to choose people who you can rely on and who will be there for you throughout the wedding planning process and on your wedding day.
Consider the responsibilities of each role. The maid of honor and best man have important responsibilities, including giving speeches, organizing the shower and some pre-wedding functions, and helping with wedding day logistics. Bridesmaids and groomsmen also have important roles, including helping with pre-wedding events and being there to support the couple on the wedding day.
Keep family dynamics in mind. It's important to consider the dynamics between your family members when selecting your wedding party. You don't want to choose someone who will cause drama or tension on your wedding day. If you have a particularly large family, you may want to consider having a larger wedding party to include more family members.
Think about gender roles. While traditionally the maid of honor is female and the best man is male, there's no rule that says you have to follow these gender roles. If you have a close male friend who you want to be your "man of honor," or a male family member who you want to be a bridesman, go for it!
Consider the financial obligations. Being a wedding attendant can be expensive, with costs including dresses or suits, hair and makeup, and travel expenses. It's important to consider the financial situation of your potential wedding party members and make sure they're comfortable with the financial obligations.
Don't feel obligated to include everyone. While you may feel pressure to include all of your closest friends and family members in your wedding party, it's important to remember that it's your day and you should choose the people who are most important to you. It's okay to have a smaller wedding party or to only include a maid of honor and best man.
Once you've selected your wedding party, it's important to communicate your expectations with them. Let them know what you expect of them in terms of pre-wedding events and wedding day responsibilities. It's also important to show your appreciation for their support and let them know how much it means to you to have them by your side on your special day.
Until next time…WEDologize!
